Getting Started
What is SafeNominee?
SafeNominee is an encrypted digital legacy vault built for Indian families. It lets you securely store your most important documents — wills, property papers, insurance policies, bank details, crypto credentials, and more — and ensures your designated nominees receive organised, verified access when they need it most.
Do I need any technical knowledge to use SafeNominee?
None at all. SafeNominee is designed to be as simple as a photo album. If you can upload a file on a smartphone, you can use SafeNominee. The encryption, security, and verification processes all happen behind the scenes.
What platforms is SafeNominee available on?
SafeNominee works on Android, iOS, Web (any modern browser), and Desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux). All platforms share the same account — your vault is always in sync.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. SafeNominee offers a free plan that lets you get started with no payment required. The free plan includes a set number of documents and nominees. When you're ready for more, you can upgrade to Premium or Premium Pro.
Document Storage
What types of documents can I store?
Any digital file — PDFs, images (JPG, PNG), spreadsheets, Word documents, videos, and more. Common uses include wills, property deeds, insurance policies, bank account details, Aadhaar and PAN copies, vehicle documents, crypto seed phrases, investment folios, and personal letters or video messages to loved ones.
Is there a file size limit per document?
Yes — individual file size limits vary by plan. Your total vault storage capacity is shown on your plan details page. Most documents (PDFs, images, spreadsheets) are well within the per-file limits.
Can I organize documents into folders?
Yes. You can create folders and subfolders to keep your vault organised by category — for example, a 'Property' folder, an 'Insurance' folder, and a 'Personal Messages' folder. You can also assign folder-level access permissions to nominees.
Can I download my documents at any time?
Yes, always. You retain full ownership of everything in your vault. You can download individual files or request a full encrypted export of your entire vault at any time from the Settings screen.
Security & Privacy
How are my documents protected?
Every document is encrypted with AES-256 before being stored on our servers — the same standard used by global banks and financial institutions. All data is transmitted over TLS 1.3 encrypted connections. Access is controlled by your master password and strict server-side access controls.
What is my master password and why does it matter?
Your master password is the key that controls access to your encrypted documents. It is securely stored on our servers and required for decryption. Keep a copy in a secure physical location known to a trusted person — if you lose it and need recovery, contact us at bitlooper.org@gmail.com.
What happens if I forget my master password?
Your master password is securely stored on our servers. If you forget it, contact our support team at bitlooper.org@gmail.com with your registered account details — we will guide you through our verified identity recovery process. We strongly recommend keeping your master password in a secure, physically separate location.
Can Bitlooper employees read my documents?
Not in normal use. Your documents are encrypted with AES-256 and our staff have no routine access to them. To be fully honest, though: SafeNominee does hold a securely-wrapped recovery key by design (see the next question) — it is only ever unwrapped through the verified claim process, on behalf of your authenticated nominees, and never to browse your files.
Does SafeNominee hold a key to my vault?
Yes — by design, and it's important you know this. A vault that must hand access to your family after your death can't rely on you being the only keyholder: if the key were lost with you, your nominees could never get in. So SafeNominee keeps a securely-wrapped recovery key. It stays sealed during your lifetime and is only unwrapped to grant a nominee access once a claim passes our full identity verification. This deliberate trade-off is what makes inheritance possible — we are transparent about it rather than claiming we can never access anything.
Is my data stored in India?
We use secure cloud infrastructure and aim to store data on India-based servers wherever feasible. SafeNominee is fully compliant with India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023.
Do you sell my data to third parties?
Never. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or documents with any third party for commercial purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Nominees & Claims
How do I add a nominee?
From the Nominees section, tap 'Add Nominee' and enter their name, email address, phone number, and relationship. You can then assign specific documents or folders to each nominee. You can add multiple nominees and give each one different access levels.
How does a nominee get access after I'm gone?
When a claim is triggered (by extended inactivity or manual claim submission), the nominee receives a secure notification. They complete a KYC identity verification process, submit the claim, and our team reviews and authenticates it before granting access — only to the documents specifically assigned to them.
Can I restrict which documents each nominee sees?
Yes — completely. You have granular control. You can assign different documents or folders to different nominees. One person might only see insurance policies; another might see everything. You can update these permissions at any time.
What is inactivity detection?
SafeNominee monitors your account for extended periods of inactivity (which you configure in Settings). If you remain inactive beyond your threshold, a warning notification is sent to you first. If there is still no response, your nominees are notified according to your settings. This acts as an automatic trigger for the access process.
What is the claim processing fee?
The claim processing fee is a one-time charge paid by the nominee when they initiate a document claim. It covers KYC identity verification, manual document review, legal authenticity checks, and the secure release of access. Free plan nominees pay ₹3,500, Premium nominees pay ₹1,000, and Pro plan nominees pay nothing.
Can nominees dispute each other's access?
If multiple parties dispute the right to your vault, SafeNominee will not adjudicate the dispute. We will suspend contested access and comply with a valid court order from a competent Indian court. Please ensure your nominees are correctly configured and your wishes are clearly documented.
Plans & Billing
What are the differences between the plans?
SafeNominee offers Free, Premium, and Premium Pro plans. They differ in document count, nominee limit, storage capacity, scheduled message support, and the claim processing fee charged to nominees. Full plan details are shown on the Plan Selection screen within the app.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes. You can upgrade at any time — your new plan takes effect immediately. Downgrading is also allowed; you retain your current plan benefits until the end of the billing cycle.
How does billing work?
Paid plans are available on monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or annual cycles. Subscriptions renew automatically on the cycle you choose. Payments are processed securely by Razorpay. You will receive an invoice by email after every payment.
What is your refund policy?
Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable Indian consumer protection law. If you cancel, you retain access until the end of your paid period. No partial refunds are issued for unused periods.
Are there hidden fees?
No. The only additional charge is the one-time claim processing fee paid by nominees — not by you — when they initiate a claim. Subscription pricing is shown clearly, excluding GST.
Legal & Compliance
Is SafeNominee a legal will?
No — and this is important. SafeNominee is NOT a legal will or a substitute for one. It does not create legally enforceable inheritance rights and does not replace a registered Will under the Indian Succession Act, 1925. SafeNominee is a document storage and delivery tool. Legal inheritance of assets is governed separately by succession law and registered wills. We strongly recommend creating a registered will with a qualified legal professional.
Is SafeNominee compliant with Indian privacy law?
Yes. SafeNominee is designed to comply with India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices) Rules, 2011. Our Grievance Officer details are published in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Who is the Grievance Officer?
Our Grievance Officer is from the Bitlooper Legal & Compliance team. For any data-related complaints or grievances, email bitlooper.org@gmail.com. We respond within 48 hours and aim to resolve complaints within 30 days. If unresolved, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
What happens to my data if SafeNominee shuts down?
We are committed to providing at least 90 days' advance notice of any service discontinuation. During that period, you will be able to download a full export of your vault. We will also maintain a legally-bound archived copy releasable to nominated legal representatives.
What law governs SafeNominee?
SafeNominee is governed by the laws of the Republic of India. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of competent courts in India. Prior to litigation, disputes should be raised at bitlooper.org@gmail.com for good-faith resolution.
Does SafeNominee cover my foreign assets?
You can store details of ANY asset in your vault — Indian or foreign — so your family has a complete picture. However, our estate-settlement services (where our partners — CAs, lawyers and firms — actually help your family claim and settle assets) currently cover assets held in INDIA only — Indian property, bank accounts, insurance, and investments. For assets held outside India (e.g. a foreign bank account or overseas property), please consult a local estate-planning service in that country.
